When it comes to designing the perfect kitchen, there really is only one ‘DO’, Create something you truly want and then do everything in your power to make that a reality.

When it comes to designing the perfect kitchen, there really is only one ‘DO’, Create something you truly want and then do everything in your power to make that a reality.

Sounds simple doesn’t it? And there is no reason it shouldn’t be simple either. Except for one thing. The kitchen industry wants to build you the perfect kitchen, the only problem is they want to build a kitchen that’s perfect for them.

That means conforming to what they want to sell you, at the best possible price for them at their convenience. That means combinations of cabinets and fittings and sizing that fits their needs, not necessarily yours. It’s not that they can’t create kitchens that perfectly fit your dreams, it’s just that it isn’t really in their interests to do so.

Which means you’ll get lots of tutting and raising of eyebrows when you suggest that bespoke option that goes slightly off plan, or that request that doesn’t really fit in with a particular style. Which leads us to the big ‘DON’T’ of kitchen design.

Don’t compromise on your dream kitchen. You’ll be living with it for a long time potentially and that slight concession you made to get the right fit will only irritate you as time goes on. Stick to your guns, this is probably the most you’ll ever spend on your house and it’s the heartbeat of most people’s home. So ‘do’ dream big and ‘don’t’ take no for an answer.
